Ganenu is Hebrew for our garden, and every child here is nurtured like a seedling.

We give each child the warmth and room they need to grow into exactly who they are meant to be, at their own pace and in their own way.

Children celebrating Shabbat together at Ganenu

A cherished part of the Bentleigh community for over a decade.

Ganenu began as Gan Gabi & Rivki ELC, walking alongside local families as their children took their first steps into learning and joy.

Our new name reflects our true purpose, and our new centre opening in 2027 marks the next chapter of that story.

What we believe about how children grow.

01

Play is how children make sense of the world.

Our play-based program is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach. Educators follow each child’s curiosity and turn everyday moments into wonder and discovery.

02

Jewish life is part of every day.

Jewish traditions and values are woven through songs, stories, Shabbat and celebrations, so children grow up feeling joyful and at home with them.

03

Every child is truly known.

Our educators take the time to know each child, including their strengths, character and ways of learning. When a child feels seen and understood, they feel safe to grow.

04

Children grow at their own pace.

From 6 months through to school age, we help children become confident and resilient by giving each one room to flourish in their own way.

Our story so far.

From three children to a garden that keeps on growing.

Gan Gabi opens its doors

Our centre opened in Bentleigh East with just three children, named in loving memory of Rabbi Gavriel and Rivkah Holtzberg.

Growing together

We were grateful to welcome more families each year, and the centre grew to care for 74 children from six months to five years.

Gan Gabi becomes Ganenu

A new name meaning our garden, with the same heart families have always known.

A brand new centre

We move into a purpose-built home designed around play and nature, with room for every child to flourish.

“I have seen my child blossom and go from being very shy around other kids to a confident and social girl. She is loved and respected here. I feel supported as a parent and we feel cared for as a family unit.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What age groups do you welcome?
+

We welcome children from six months through to school age, across five rooms grouped by developmental stage rather than birthday alone.

What kind of meals are provided for the children?
+

All meals are prepared fresh on site and are kosher. Children receive morning tea, a hot lunch, and afternoon tea, with menus rotated seasonally and allergies catered for.

What are your operating hours?
+

We are open Monday to Thursday, 7:30am to 6pm. On Fridays we close at 5pm in summer and 4:15pm in winter. We are open on public holidays and closed on Jewish holidays.

How do you help children settle in?
+

Every family starts with two orientation visits before their first full day. Your child is paired with a key educator who becomes their steady point of connection while they find their feet.

Do you offer government subsidies?
+

Yes. We are an approved provider, so eligible families can access the Child Care Subsidy. We can walk you through what your out of pocket cost would look like.

How do you keep parents updated during the day?
+

Educators share photos, meals, sleeps, and learning moments through our parent app, and there is always time for a proper conversation at pick up.
